Movie recommendations

This is gonna be a bit of a mixed bag, and some of these definitely better than others BUT idc they were enough to get somewhat of a reaction out of me

Horror/Thriller

My main picks are the ones that either forced me to pause or skip parts just because I hated it. And they werent scary like the backrooms. They were genuinely just a hard watch in terms of how they made me feel, especially the social aspects of the horror.

It's what's inside (2024)

this movie is a fucking nightmare. if youre looking for scares, this isn't it. tension. Social tension. this is the thriller of tonights movie recommendations. The pure tension between the cast of characters, the way they each interact and view eachother, it all builds up to the most horrifying concept ever: one i wont tell you, BECAUSE ITS SO GOOD. EVERYTIME THEY USED IT, I WAS SO AFRAID SOME SHIT WOULD GO WRONG. BUT IT DID. This entire film i felt a sinking in my gut, watching everyone fuck around, and always ALWAYS find out in the end.

Talk to me (2022)

Once again another film where everything goes wrong, except this one is a lot scarier. Once again, they use an object that has repercussions, but this film reflects a lot more on addiction and how it can take over and ruin your life. I love how you can view the main cast as good people, yet admit how bad they can be too. I think the main thing I hate is how the start kinda focused on "phone bad book good" sorts of arguments, but eventually it did become a bit better so I honestly dont mind anymore. really good ending, too, beautiful.

Action

I know they are both Quentin Tarantino films and that guys a creep but as long as you look past his obvious insertion of his fetish (pick it out if you dont know) you can find these to be really good

Pulp fiction (1994)

a little freakier for sure, in terms of how scenes go, and not very action packed either. The plot is quite jumbled up, but it eventually comes full circle. I like how it treats the "main characters" and how they interact with eachother and the world they're placed in. Also love the acting and how people talk to eachother. There is one scene involving needles so if you get to the part where she ODs just skip it with your eyes closed, please. A lot of blood in another scene, too. oh and racism. did you know the director basically gave himself the excuse to say the word by putting himself in there? if you ever watch, dont watch with other people in the house, some shit gets REAL freaky and i can make excuses but the director is just a weird guy who coincidentally makes good films. ALSO ITS LEAVING NETFLIX SOON

Kill Bill (2003/2004)

pure action from the first scene. Very over the top, but thats what we love in action. If you watched JJK season 3, you would know that the Maki scene HEAVILY takes from Kill Bill Volume 1. And yes, theres two volumes. The action is great, and I love the main character and the mystery behind her. Some scenes blend other media to show a story, and they do it REALLY well. Also, the reasoning behind the main character is so good, and I love watching her win. My biggest issue is how easily they hand over all the mysteries in Vol 2, and also the action isn't as crazy, with no big crowd fight scenes, but who cares some scenes get real cool.

Anime

yes fuck you i got an anime movie to recommend, too. If you want yearning I guess this ones okay, but
not really entirely.

All You Need Is Kill (2026)

As standard as the plotline is in this film, with the classic girl and boy against something one sacrifice other live. Despite this gripe its got such a good mystery and I love how long we get to sit with the main character. We really get to feel how devastating her situation is, and how things really change. There are other animes with similar plots, but I often find that that series (i wont name it but if you watch all you need is kill you'll know) just isnt the same when it isnt always using the gimmick/power/plot device. But this whole film is all about it. The style is BEAUTIFUL and the fights are too. Love it.
