Why Instagram is simply better

When I was younger, I hated tiktok. It was trendy, so I hated it. Eventually in highschool, I got it, and sent tiktoks to my girlfriend at the time. Well, I've finally realised why I enjoy instagram now, more than tiktok.

Now I understand why you got me to download tiktok, but dear lord, it never changed. It is full of negativity still. About how ugh im so emotionally attached and I do so much good and ugh i never get in return. its so sappy. and constant videos reminding you that maybe youre not the best emotionally isnt really good. youre not "working through" your emotions, youre being reminded.

when I scroll instagram, its usually something funny, like some weird challenge someone did, a peculiar moment in a day, some random old person doing parkour, a fail with someone laughing it off. Reels I can send to people, that make us both smile.

Back when I was on tiktok, all i saw were tiktoks made to be reposted to vaguely tell someone how you feel. something about being miserable, feeling hated, ugly, and really miserable. Why are the tik toks that way still? Its a terrible loop to stay in, really. You never get happier if all you get are reminders of why youre so sad.

To me, happiness is a meter to be kept up. Every sad moment causes a hit to it, but if i've already had happy moments before, I don't get miserable. So to be on an app, constantly hitting my gut, you'd become permanently miserable.

I know a lot of you have expressed that what you consume controls how you feel, specifically in music. Imagine if all your music was constantly sad, and all of the lyrics were about how ugly of a human you were. Thats what Tik tok was, thats what I'm still seeing it as

i hope this gif of mac demarco bouncing on it helps, stop consuming miserable content
